Paul Harnden jacket, wool
Lilies dress, cotton blend
Rick Owens boots, leather
A Brand Apart bag, leather

There's nothing better than a simple black outfit, except maybe the feeling you get once you've finished marking a huge pile of exam papers. My basic formula for getting dressed;

black(boots + jacket of the day) = feeling good

will soon be rendered unbalanced. The late onset of Summer weather has been much appreciated, however now I see it arriving in all it's disgustingly bright and hot glory. Will have to work on a new formula.

  1. Love the PH blazer! How is the sizing and can you recommend a good place to buy from?

    1. Unfortunately I can't be of much help recommending a good place to buy, however I think the sizing runs on the smaller size .

  2. I really like your bag. The perfect amount of slouch to it.

    1. Thank you. The leather is very thin and lightweight so it doesn't weigh down the shoulder too much (although the excessive amount of stuff I carry around makes up for that!)

  3. Mia, I am very fond of winter dressing and summer does pose challenges, but this year I am looking at a new forumula that involves sleeveless black dresses and interesting footwear :) Im looking forward to see how you summer formula develops:) This is a great outfit btw. Love the neckline of the dress under the jacket.

  4. Summer often tests my tried and true aesthetic, too, especially when that aesthetic does not include a lot of skin exposure. Fortunately we get to see your perfect Paul Harnden jacket here before it's put away for the season. I LOVE the wrinkles. The jacket appears to be wool and linen, a favorite fabric combo of mine that is oh, so hard to source.

    1. Given the current temperatures I am wishing it were a combination with linen! Will have to source a Summer friendly version.

      I think you dealt with the Summer weather very well with your aesthetic, something that would make life a lot easier if I could work out a system!

  5. I had never heard of Paul Harnden before, and it looks like he's a hard one to get something from. How'd you snag that lovely jacket?

    1. I think you would find him interesting, he started out as a shoemaker (hence Paul Harnden Shoemakers), but still remains an enigma to me. Having heard so much about his fabrics I was even more impressed seeing it in the flesh, absolutely amazing. Apparently his wears are only sold in-store, and then only a small handful of stores stock him in the first place. I got lucky! As seems to be the case for most of my wardrobe haha.
