Rick Owens Limo FW11 belted top , calf leather
Ann Demeulemeester Camoscio sandals, leather
The weather has not been shy in warming up now that Spring has officially arrived. Not to worry, as Rick has leather pieces for almost all occasions. This soft calf leather top combines the ease of a t-shirt with just the right amount of volume and shape. I spent my Sunday morning cleaning & protecting my boots, ready to have a last hurrah before the weather becomes frightfully inappropriate.
I don't doubt that the majority of people who frequently stumble onto my blog share a similar sentiment about Summer. It seems that the a lot of the population deals with extreme heat by wearing as little clothing/fabric as possible (I'm hoping that the plague of overly short short-shorts will not return in the upcoming months). For those who derive utility from wearing beautiful, thoughtful clothes in most shades of black, this doesn't really feel like a viable option. So the challenge arises on how to adapt those normally layered, thick, dry-clean only pieces to the sticky, sweaty heat. Over the seasons I've made a conscious effort to purchase cotton items in order to meet the Summer challenge with as little pain as possible. I've also invested in a couple of new pairs of sandals (this pair being one of them) in the hope of bringing some extra joy to getting dressed when it's 30º+ out. I'm still in the market for more items, but there's time yet to fill the final few gaps. To those who will be transitioning back into leather-territory, congratulations on not melting and enjoy the cool/cold/freezing weather for me!
